All manatees. All the time.
One of the things I’m looking the most forward to when I have children (whenever that will be): taking them on countless trips to zoos and aquariums.
Adults’ reactions are like “Oh, that’s cool” and they move along without much thought. Children’s reactions are all sorts of amazing facially, physically, and verbally with mixtures of excitement, happiness, and sometimes fear and lots of other unnamed emotions.
Slight bummer: the private school I work at can’t schedule me for the summer program due to low enrollment.
Slight upside: a board member (who is also on the board for the youth center I also work at) didn’t like that and they mentioned something about pulling their board member weight on the matter.
Another slight upside: one of the admin folk at the private school came to me yesterday and explained that they were pushing for them to have me work the summer despite low enrollment as they don’t want to lose me next school year.
We shall see how this turns out.
Vega flagged down a Miami police officer, who he said repeatedly ordered the attacker to get off the victim. The attacker just picked his head up and growled at the officer, Vega said.
As the attack continued, Vega said the officer shot the attacker, who continued chewing the victim’s face. The officer fired again, killing the attacker.

I super miss going to Pig ‘N Pancake on our Oregon coast adventures during my childhood. It was one of our trip-traditions, I haven’t been there in over 10 years.
I also want to take a trip to go the ice cream shop that is right next to the Devil’s Punchbowl—assuming it is still in business.

I finally changed my mom and stepdad’s house number from the name ‘Last House on the Left’ to ‘Venture Compound’; been a title in my phone(s) for over 6 years.
Family and friends found it kind of morbid that I listed the house number with the title of a horror movie—I only chose it because the route I take to their house, it is the last one on the block on the left. So I changed it to something goofier—Venture Compound.
Why I do things like this:
- It feels goofy for me to list the number as ‘Home’ because I don’t live there
- It feels even goofier for me to list the number as just ‘Mom’ when my stepdad and twinblings live there too
- It feels even way more goofy for me to list the number as ‘Mom and Ted’s House’
I don’t really know why I feel weird about that sort of thing, I just do, I’m strange like that.
